What do I mean by melody vs chords

Melody meaning solo or lead.
As opposed to chords which involves more than two notes being played a the same time or in combination like in an arpeggio.

When a singer sings a song, it is the melody we are talking about. The chords behind is the harmony, the arranging.

solo/lead/melody, for which we find chords/harmony/arrangement.
